Susan Cushman, MD

I am a board certified ob/gyn physician practicing in the greater metro Minneapolis area since 1988. I work with an independent single specialty clinic – Obstetrics and Gynecology West PA.

After we graduated from Carleton College, my husband and I located in the Twin Cities. I worked as a writer for Medtronic, got more interested in the medicine than the writing and decided to become a physician. My med school and residency programs were both at the University of Minnesota.

While still in medical school I co-founded the Melpomene Institute for Women's Health Research with Judy Lutter. One of Melpomene's first research projects was on running during pregnancy and I was a study participant when pregnant with our son.

I have greatly enjoyed sports like running, golf, cycling and cross-country skiing and try to share the joys of fitness with my patients. Of course I don't expect my patients to be as crazy about sports as I have been.

I do want to share with them how interesting the human body is and some of the newest information on the medical challenges we face keeping it running smoothly.
